Position Purpose: Technical leader and senior contributor in the development of electrical designs for new products, including the oversight of proof of principle testing and design verification testing, oversight of design documentation and design specifications, and other aspects of product development project management. Principal Responsibilities: Oversight of rapid development of various electrical aspects of new product designs, often requiring significant innovation. Requires significant understanding of and experience with engineering principles and processes to ensure the expected high rate of success, as well as ability to lead others. Oversight of test processes and analysis of results. Appraisal of integrity of electrical product designs. Identification of new technologies and development techniques. Design validation testing. Requires expertise in determining which variables are important, ability to instrument and take accurate data and generating accurate analysis through the use of acquired design and laboratory skills. Presentation of test and/or analysis results and design ideas both orally and written in a clear and informative manner providing all pertinent facts, figures and proof of assumptions. Development of engineering and product specification, generation of cost estimates or models and development schedules. Reporting on project status. Assisting in construction of prototypes. Approval of new, primary and alternate vendors. Expected to provide technical direction and mentoring to others. Knowledge/Skill Needs: Required: BSEE, with advanced technical courses desired. Good English skills both spoken and written. Highly competent with demonstrated experience as technical project leader. Very strong technical and analytical skills. Competent in analog control circuits, digital control circuits, inverter power management, data collection and test methods and CAE and simulation tools. Knowledge of thermal analysis, design for manufacturing principles product data management and computer literacy. Technical expertise in five or more of the following; analog control circuits; digital control circuits; digital signal processing using micro-controllers, micro-processors or digital signal processors; conventional power management; high speed switching power management; power factor correction. Desired: Five plus years experience in a relevant technical capacity. Proficient in design of experiments. Technical understanding of Plasma and Welding Processes ? Experience in the Plasma/Welding and Cutting Business Quality Requirements: Familiarity with quality system documentation related to the position and maintaining all quality standards.
